Sr. Manager Flight Technical FedEx
As Senior Manager of the FedEx Flight Technical Team Jim’s department is responsible for a the FedEx Pilot Mobility program which includes both Electronic Flight Bags and the Pilot iPad Program. In addition to Mobility, Jim’s Flight Technical Team manages all Flight Publications, implements Technical Projects on board FedEx aircraft and provides 24/7 Tech Pilot support to our crew force worldwide.
Jim began his FedEx career as a line pilot in 2005, was promoted to his current position in 2012 and when he can get out of the office flies as a FedEx 757 Captain. He has nearly 40 years of aviation experience in multiple types of airplanes and gliders and is passionate about providing the best products available to the FedEx crew force.
Jim has a BS in Computer Science from Marquette University, graduated from Navy ROTC program and spent 10 years in Naval Aviation.
Principal, Information Technology, Flight Crew Systems, Delta Air Lines
Roland M. Brenny is Delta Air Lines’ Principal, Information Technology for Pilot and Flight Attendant Crew, Catering and Technical Operations applications. Roland has spent the last five years specializing in mobile technology, deploying 36,000+ devices, supporting applications and management techniques. Since joining the airline in 1996, Roland has concentrated on logistical applications for Flight Operations and Inflight Services.
Roland has more than 27 years in the Information Technology industry. Along with transportation he has experience with utilities, government, insurance and manufacturing. Roland also recently served on the Board of Directors of Red Lake Inc., a tribal owned business of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians, of which he is a enrolled member.
Roland lives in Minneapolis and holds bachelor’s degrees in Computer Information Systems and Business Management from the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, Minn.
Senior Director, Business Development, Honeywell Aerospace
Erica Brinker is Senior Director, Business Development for Services, Connectivity and the Connected Aircraft for Honeywell Aerospace, a $15 billion business group of Honeywell International, a Fortune 100 company diversified technology and manufacturing leader (NYSE: HON). Erica leads strategic partnerships, new product development, new customer acquisition, adjacencies and connected aircraft opportunities globally across all businesses, including commercial, defense and business aviation. Erica began her career with Honeywell in 2011, leading the global marketing communications team driving customer marketing and communications including web and digital marketing, social media, tradeshows and direct marketing. Erica has a Bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and earned her Masters of Business Administration and International Business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. She is a new Advisory Board member to the Digital Connected Aircraft Summit. She is also a blogger, wine enthusiast and amateur chef.
As a Member of the Southwest Airlines WiFi/IFE Team, Tara is responsible for ensuring the best possible experience for Customers while engaging with WiFi/IFE onboard Southwest aircraft. Tara builds relationships across multiple departments within Southwest to provide strategic direction. Tara takes great pride in finding new opportunities to educate others on the ever-growing presence of WiFi/IFE at Southwest.
Tara began her career at Southwest Airlines as an Intern on the Customer Experience Team. Recognizing that focusing on the Customer was an area of passion for her, she continued to grow within the role and her time on the Team consistently impacts her work today. Being able to work on WiFi/IFE gives Tara the opportunity to bring this passion for the Customer and a desire for operational efficiency together into one outcome.
Tara grew up in the great state of Texas, graduating with a BS in Marketing and a BS in Management from Oklahoma State University. She rounded out her education with an MS in Logistics and MBA concentrated in Operations Management from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Director, Flight Operations CNS Programs & Cockpit Technology, United Airlines
Jon Merritt currently heads up the development and implementation of United Airlines’ Flight Operations mobility initiatives. Launched with a Class 1 Electronic Flight Bag (Apple iPads) to over 12, 000 pilots, the mobility venture is the largest airline deployment of tablet electronic flight bags to date. United Flight Operations continues to explore additional ways for mobility to drive efficiency, productivity and accessibility for pilots and the airline. Jon has been with United Airlines 16 years, the last seven with Flight Operations managing information technology programs. A distinguished speaker; Jon has presented at Mobile Con, Gartner CIO ITXPO, Forrester Research Webinar, VM World, and Mobile World Congress in Barcelona discussing the mobile cloud, mobility solutions for the airline industry and mobile content management. Jon earned his Bachelor of Arts in public relations from Marshall University in Huntington, WV and his Master of Arts in Instructional Design from Governors State University, in Illinois.
Earle Olson Vice President, Industry Affairs, Airborne Wireless Network.
Earle has over 36 years experience in business development with specialty experience in global commercial and military industries and a significant background in airborne applications from in-flight entertainment and networking, to flight controls, sensors and more. Earle has been instrumental in realizing strategic teaming and partnerships.
Inga is responsible for the overall management and development of the IFE system and Connectivity onboard. She works with teams across the organization from the Technical Services for the hardware to Digital labs for the software to maintain the systems and come up with new ideas for development of the products for Icelandair passengers.
Inga graduated with B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from University of Iceland and finished her M.Sc. in Engineering and Management in Scotland at the University of Glasgow. In addition she just finished her Executive MBA from University of Reykjavik in Iceland this spring.
